- Members of the Wessex Association and Westbury Chamber of Commerce recently had the opportunity to have a look around ARTIS, which is an advanced laboratory supporting the innovation, development and testing needs of the European Polymer Industry.
- ARTIS to work with Gammadot Rheology
- Gammadot Rheology and ARTIS, (the commercialised research arm of Avon Rubber p.l.c), are investigating potential projects & services the two companies can co-operatively offer to the polymer industry.
- ARTIS in consortium offered £1.2 million grant
- Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc (“Symphony”), the degradable plastics and wasteto-energy Group, announces that it’s wholly owned subsidiary, Symphony Energy Ltd (the “Company”) has now been officially advised by the Technology Strategy Board that the Company and its consortium partners have been offered a £1.19m grant for collaborative research and development in the area of High Value Manufacturing, for the consortium’s Rubber Product Enhanced Recovery Technology project (“RìPERT”). The Company is the lead partner; the other members of the consortium are ARTIS (a business of Avon Rubber P.l.c.), Imperial College London, ABB Limited (Robotics Division), Hughes Pumps Limited and Credowan Limited (Subsidiary of Cobham Plc).
- ARTIS presents at TAC 2008
- The Presentation will look at the combined use of TGA and DMTA and other analytical techniques, to look at changes in elastomeric materials that occur as a result of contact with cleaning chemicals used in dairy applications.
- AVON Rubber plc announces ARTIS
- Avon is delighted to announce the launch of ARTIS, an acronym for Avon Rubber Technology Innovation and Science to the commercial market. ARTIS is an advanced laboratory in Westbury, Wiltshire, England dedicated to material testing, research and development, training, legislative support including expert witness capability. ARTIS will offer cost effective expertise in all of these specialist areas.
- Anaconda
- ARTIS, have recently been awarded a development contract from the Carbon Trust supporting the development of the Anaconda sea energy device. The Anaconda is a new concept for the generation of electricity from sea energy and is currently being developed by Melksham based Checkmate Sea Energy.
- Chem Patch
- ARTIS has been awarded a $270,000 development contract with the US Army, Research Development of Engineering Command (RDECOM) through the Technology Support working Group (TSWG) for the development of an integral pass through protective patch for level A protective garments.
- Emerging Health Challenges for Rubber
- Paul Marchant of ARTIS will be presenting a paper on the 2nd July 2010 at the IOM3 headquarters in London. The Rubber in Engineering Group afternoon technical discussion meeting, co-organised by the materials KTN, will be focusing on the “Emerging Health and Legislation Challenges for Rubber”.
- ARTIS Expands Capability
- 3 years after launching as an independant polymer consultancy, ARTIS have established a solid customer base, and are now expanding their testing capabilities with the purchase of a Perkin Elmer Clarus 560S GC-MS.

- Paul Marchant of ARTIS presented a paper on “Rubber in Food Contact Applications” at the IOM3 headquarters in London on Friday 2nd July, as part of the Rubber in Engineering Group afternoon technical discussion meeting.

- The ‘Challenges Posed by the Recycling of Rubber’ will be the topic of discussion at the next Rubber in Engineering Group afternoon technical discussion meeting at the IOM3 headquarters in London on the 10th December 2010.
- Artis Appoint Stephen Millington
- On our return from the Christmas break the ARTIS team will be joined by Stephen Millington in the role of Development Scientist.
- Artis Partner Kumho Tyres
- Gerardo Sica of Kumho tyres is due to present a paper on tyre tread compound biodegradation at this years Tyre Technology Conference in Cologne, Germany on 15th to the 17th of February 2011. The work was kindly sponsored by the Korean government and ARTIS have been a partner in this very interesting and challenging project.
- Still Bouncing Back - Artis Present at Manchester Polymer Group
- Paul Marchant of ARTIS presented a paper on “Biodegradable and Sustainable Tyre Tread Compound Development” at the Manchester Polymer Group meeting on Monday 16th May 2011 at Old Trafford in Manchester. The talk detailed a joint project that was carried out between Kumho Tyres and Artis, to develop a more readily biodegradable tread compound.
