Developing New Engineering and Material Products

Members of the Wessex Association and Westbury Chamber of Commerce recently had the opportunity to have a look around ARTIS, which is an advanced laboratory supporting the innovation, development and testing needs of the European Polymer Industry.

As part of Avon Rubber p.l.c, ARTIS is a new brand that was formed in November 2007 and based in Westbury. Dedicated to material testing, research and development, training and legal support, ARTIS offers cost effective expertise in all these specialist areas.

Chief Scientist Martyn Bennett gave an extremely interesting presentation to delegates who attended the visit and offered them an opportunity to handle some of the products designed or developed by his team. These included advanced respiratory protection products such as the new escape hood from Avon Rubber and the latest concept in dairy inflations developed at ARTIS. Members were also given a tour of the laboratory and an opportunity to see some of the equipment in action.
